Each map we produce is customized with all the information and detail that you require.

It takes a large number of ingredients to produce a custom map. The guide below lists many of these items. A map is then created by combining these components into a single unit. This is done in “layers” - continually placing one set of data on top of the rest, until all the data is “sandwiched”. Keep in mind that the final product must reflect the exact requirements that the map is being created for. Let us know the purpose of your map, and an ADM cartographer will help you design it.

SIZE

Maps are produced in many of the standard sizes including: 18 x 24 - 36 x 48 - 48 x 62 - 72 x 96 - 108 x 144 as well as in any custom size up to 108 x 144.

FINISH

Most maps are available in either black and white, or in up to 8 colors on photo gloss, semi gloss, satin, and matte surfaces. Folded paper maps must be purchased in quantity. Almost all maps and surfaces can be laminated for a nominal fee.

FORMAT

Maps can be delivered in several different formats depending on the purpose they are used for. Flat maps, folded maps, wall maps and digital output are the most common formats.

TYPE OF MAP

Zip Code maps, Marketing maps, Census Tract maps, Street and Highway maps, Thematic maps, Buffer Zone maps, Pin maps, Boundary maps and Demographic maps are some of the types of maps produced at ADM.

COVERAGE

One of the first items that has to be selected when creating a custom map is the area that the map will cover. This is generally one of the following. Block, Radius, Metro, County, Multi-County, State, Multi-state, National, or any custom area that you select.

DATA POINTS

Data points can be added to any style of map. Highways, roads, streets, rivers, streams, waterways, mile markers, census information, zip codes, area codes, state, county, and city boundaries, airports, topographic information, demographic information, hospitals, fire stations, police stations, railroad stations, theaters, public parks, industrial parks, museums, boat ramps, and restaurants, are just some of the many data points that you may require for your map. You may also want to include specific items such as competitors locations, parking lots, bus stops, fire hydrants.
